The big news has arrived as the Helen Hayes Awards announce their nominees for 2026, recognizing outstanding achievements in professional theatre across the Washington, D.C. region. This year's nominees include notable stars from Broadway and critically acclaimed national touring productions, providing a showcase for both familiar and fresh talent.

Veteran performer Rob McClure leads the charge, being nominated for Outstanding Lead Performer in a Musical for his role in Damn Yankees at Arena Stage. Alongside him, an array of talent shines through, including Douglas Sills, who earned recognition for his performance in Fiddler on the Roof at Signature Theatre. And it doesn't stop there; the nominations also highlight Ana Villafañe, known for her Broadway hit in On Your Feet!, garnering praise for her performance in Damn Yankees as well.

This year's nominations proudly showcase national tours too; productions like Kimberly Akimbo and Some Like It Hot have successfully made their mark, earning a nomination for Outstanding Non-Resident Production.
