Thomas Doherty Transitions from Screen to Stage
In a captivating leap from television to theater, Thomas Doherty, known for his role in HBO Max's Gossip Girl reboot, recently made his New York stage debut as Seymour in the beloved Off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors. This production, which opened earlier this month at the Westside Theatre, has garnered significant attention not only for its nostalgic charm but also for its star-studded cast.
Shared Spotlight with Madeline Brewer
Doherty shares the stage with Madeline Brewer, an Emmy-nominated actress renowned for her role in The Handmaid's Tale. Together, they bring a vibrant energy to the classic story of a down-and-out florist who discovers a singing plant with a craving for human flesh. This duo's chemistry promises to capture the audience's attention through both the humor and darkness of the narrative.
Reviving a Classic
The revival of Little Shop of Horrors is part of a broader trend revitalizing classic musicals for modern audiences. It invites both longtime fans and new patrons to experience a dramatic tale wrapped in humor and catchy tunes. As theatergoers flock to see this production, it’s evident that the appeal of musicals continues to resonate across generations.
A Debut Worth Watching
With Doherty's rising popularity and Brewer's established acclaim, this production is quickly becoming a must-see event in the New York theater circuit. Whether you are a die-hard fan of musicals or just looking for a delightful night out, Little Shop of Horrors offers something for everyone.
